I’m a ‘late bloomer’, ‘born-again maker’ and ‘place-maker’. A grass roots professional, I’m at home working in real life situations with people who drive projects and make change happen.
A creative individual with drive and commitment, I’m particularly interested in enabling as many individuals and communities as possible to experience, manage and participate in creative and entrepreneurial projects.
Skills and Experience
With a proven track record of managing a complex and challenging project, I am proud to have been part of its success as a creatively-led regeneration project. Over a period of 13 years, I raised the project’s national and international profile whilst increasing income generation activities. Responsible for developing the stategic plan for its flagship venue and securing £2m capital and revenue funding, I also developed the venue’s creative programme and was responsible for managing all aspects of the organisation’s operational activities.
The project continues to be recognized at local, regional and national level as an exemplar of community led, town centre regeneration and a cultural enterprise. My contribution has been recognised by my inclusion in various advisory groups, including the Scottish Government’s External Advisory Group assembled in September 2012 to take forward a national review of town centres.
I have developed a unque skill set across the creative, community development and cultural enterprise sectors, developing strong, working relationships with local people, makers, fellow professionals and collaborators. Having worked successfully with a wide range of individuals and organisations – communities, creative practitioners and organisations, Local and National Government officials and politicians – I have developed excellent interpersonal skills and am equally comfortable speaking at local, national and international conferences and cultural exchanges.
